Score tracking system for ZigZag’s dance mats
Intelligent wireless tracking cards will soon allow ZigZag Xer-Dance platform users to compare their scores with friends and ‘dance mates’ around the world, as well as monitor their activity levels from a number of different angles. The unique cards are part of an upgrade to the Xer-Dance system’s ingenious ‘Pump it Up’ software, and will allow ZigZag’s five-step dance mats to recognise their user and automatically transfer their data to an online portal. Fergus Ahern, Managing Director of ZigZag said: “The new software will be a real bonus for dancers, who will each be given a card that can be carried in a pocket or clipped to clothing, much like a membership card. Their individual information, including the frequency and length of exercise, along with steps taken, calories burned and scores achieved, will be routinely uploaded onto a dedicated Xer-Dance site. This will allow them to monitor their own progress, as well as compare their scores with their friends and school colleagues, as well as other dancers from across the country and even around the world.” ‘Pump it Up’ is already the most advanced dance mat software on the market due to its ability to run three levels of difficulty simultaneously. Also, the intelligent mats don’t need recharging as they run off three AAA batteries, which offer a full 1,000 hours of dance time. The mats sense when not in play and simply switch themselves off.
A range of new chart songs has also been licensed for ‘Pump it Up’ version 2, to ensure the system continues to engage all age ranges and music tastes.
