ZigZag to hold finals of national dance mat competition at LIW

Eighty young dancers across the country will battle it out on ZigZag’s funky computerised dance platforms at this year’s Leisure Industry Week to become the ZigZag National Xer-Dance Champions 2008.

The ‘dance off’, which will take place over three hours at the LIW show on Tuesday 23 September, will see 10 teams 11 – 15 year olds dance along to three tracks of varying difficulty on eight of ZigZag’s second generation dance platforms.  ZigZag’s Xer-Dance is the most advanced dance system currently available on the market and was launched at the 2007 show.

The teams represent a number of leisure centres and secondary schools from across the UK.  The winning team will be the one with the highest combined score from the three dance tracks.

Fergus Ahern, Director of ZigZag said:  “The dance mats have proved extremely popular with school-aged children, particularly teenage girls, who are often disengaged from traditional sports and PE activities.  The excitement surrounding the national dance competition is testament to this and we already have a list of teams keen to enter next year’s challenge!”
