Bolton Plays Host To North West Schools

Bolton arena plays host to 37 different schools around the area, giving local children the opportunity to workout on a computer game that makes you sweat!

ZigZag’s Sportwall, an 8ft x 4ft computerised panel, is used for a wide range of specific training including basketball, cricket, tennis and football, as well as Speed Agility Quickness – the new buzz words in athletic training, according to centre manager Rob Street.

“Schools from right across the North West come to use the arena,” he said. “Those from further away usually come for a whole day once a term, whereas the local schools just use the facilities once a week as part of their PE curriculum.

“The children’s reactions are great. They don’t realise that they’re working out because they’re having too much fun,” said Rob. “It even helps to calm down the livelier kids.”

But it’s not just schools that benefit from the arena’s excellent sporting facilities, there’s an over 55’s club and an after school club too. Schools for children with learning disabilities and physical handicaps also use the arena for their PE lessons.
